The Bonnies (14-14, 4-4) head to Charlotte for a noon doubleheader tomorrow after dropping two games to Massachusetts last weekend, including a perfect game from the Minutewomen’s Sara Plourde.
Plourde struck out 10 Bonnies and hit two home runs in the first game before throwing a one-hitter in the second game to drop the Bonnies to .500 in the conference, with UMass winning 10-0 in the first game and 8-2 in the second.
Junior left fielder Jessenia Andujar had the only hit in the series for the Bonnies with a single in the bottom of the fourth of the second game.
Charlotte (20-19, 4-6) rides a four-game Atlantic 10 winning streak entering this weekend’s series with the Bonnies.
The Bonnies are searching for consistency, as they’ve either swept or been swept in their four conference series so far. After sweeping Dayton and Rhode Island non consecutively and being swept by UMass and Saint Louis non consecutively, the Bonnies head to Charlotte for the first game of the doubleheader tomorrow at noon, with the second game scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Bonnies sit at fifth place in the A-10 with Charlotte two spots back in seventh. Both teams could move up in the standings if they split the series and second place. Fordham (25-17, 9-1) faces sixth-place Saint Louis (17-21, 4-4) today at 3 p.m. in a weekend series.
The Bonnies follow up this weekend’s A-10 slate with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Canisius (9-22, 2-0 Metro Atlantic).
The Bonnies have two conference series next weekend, travelling to Fordham and La Salle for a pair of two-game series.
