In its last four conference games, the softball team is 0-4.

In their last four games against Fordham, the Bonnies are 0-4.

This weekend, the team goes on a four-game road trip for two conference series  at Fordham today at 3 p.m. and noon Saturday, followed by a Sunday doubleheader at La Salle, beginning at noon. Fordham is currently second in the Atlantic 10 with (27-18,11-1).

“We’ve had a tough going lately, especially offensively,” coach Mike Threehouse said. “We showed some flashes Tuesday and I’m happy we got one, but if we had gotten both we would have been up to .500, so we’ve got focus this weekend and win some games.”

The team has four chances this weekend to get its fifth conference win. The Bonnies are 1-5 in their last six games, following Tuesday’s double header with Canisius. The Bonnies took the first game, 6-3, behind sophomore Jen Sansano’s strong pitching performance for her team-high 10th win of the year.

The Bonnies didn’t manage any offense in the second game and lost 8-0 to the Golden Griffins. It was the third time in the last six games
the Bonnies were shutout and the 14th time this season.

“Obviously, we want to score runs,” Threehouse said. “But the last few weeks, we’ve run up against some really good pitching, and that
shows in the final.”

The Bonnies have six conference games remaining after this weekend’s set but are currently ninth in the standings, just two spots ahead of last-place La Salle (6-31).

“Coach made position switch-ups in the field, trying to get us on the right track again,” Sansano said. “I think that even after two games
and one practice in the new positions, the girls that switched around are embracing their roles and responding well. The games we lost in conference play, we beat ourselves by committing errors and things of that nature.”

Sophomore shortstop Ashley Snider provides a bright spot for an offense having a hard time scoring. An A-10 All-Rookie Team selection last year, she’s currently batting .344, second on the team, with 32 hits in 32 games this season. Snider has also recorded a team-leading 15 RBI, four home runs and a .538 on-base percentage. Her teammates will look to her for production as well as other Bonnies as they adjust to the fielding changes, according to Sansano.

“Going into the playoffs, like I said before, we just need to get back to Bonnies softball,” Sansano said. “The softball we all know and love to play.”
