Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., S.T.D. and Brenda McGee, senior vice president of finance and administration, appointed Ludwig Brunner executive director of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, according to a Jan. 11 university press release.
Brunner served the Quick’s interim director since Dec. 2011 when then previous executive director Joseph LoSchiavo left for a different job. Brunner has been at St. Bonaventure since 2003 when he began as a programming consultant.
His new duties as executive director include overseeing the Quick Center’s budget, leading the center and overseeing his staff, Brunner said.
“I have a wonderful staff to work with at the Quick Center,” Brunner said. “I want to make it (The Quick) more open to the students, bring more students in. Perhaps, students will realize this is their art center; it’s not for the outside public. It’s open all the time, it’s free of admission and we hope that students will come together in The Loft and then come and view some of the exhibitions.”
Brunner has 30 years of experience, mostly in art presentation, but he has also worked as an agent for opera singers, conductors, classical, baroque and crossover musicians. He also served as artistic administrator at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.
Brunner said he’s looking forward to his time as executive director.
“I’m looking forward to meeting more students, faculty and students,” Brunner said. “To come here, maybe have some special event and just to work with the community. It’s a wonderful place to work and to continue to have a wonderful staff.”
