Good Times of Olean offers great times for Bonaventure students

in OPINION/Staff Editorial by
As college students, it can be hard to find something fun and affordable to do on the weekends, especially in an area like Allegany and Olean.
Fortunately, a new business has opened up in Olean that will hopefully gain plenty of business from St. Bonaventure students.
Good Times of Olean officially opened on July 18, much to the excitement of local residents, who took to expressing their enthusiasm by writing their thanks on the Facebook page. Located at 800R East State St., Good Times has plenty of inexpensive, exciting activities for all people, including college students.
Good Times offers putt-putt golf for just $3, batting cages for $2 and bowling for $5.50, including shoe rental, according to Good Times’ Facebook page.
The complex also includes three restaurants. The first is the Hammer Back Bar & Grill, a sports bar with several TVs lining the bar area. The second restaurant, The Point, is named after Olean’s original name, Olean Point, according to Good Times’ website. This restaurant, described as a place where you can meet with colleagues for a meeting or a place you can go out with your family, has options suited for everyone. The third restaurant is the Snak Shak, which offers simpler food, such as pizza, oven-toasted subs and ice cream.
So whether you’re hungry for steak, a burger or just a simple sub, Good Times has something to offer. And at an affordable price, it’s that much better.
Many students at Bona’s can say they’ve complained or heard someone else complaining about the lack of things to do in the area. Good Times will give students access to a new facility that is sure to be enjoyed by all.
The Campus Activities Board does a wonderful job of providing on-campus entertainment. Students have enjoyed comedians, magicians and bands throughout the years courtesy of CAB. But if there’s ever a weekend where you don’t like the options provided by CAB, or you want to get off campus for the evening, Good Times is the perfect place to go.
Besides the permanent entertainment, Good Times is always bringing in new and exciting performances to attract more people. For the grand opening, country star Keith Anderson performed, and on Sept. 1, Chris Higbee will be performing at 7 p.m.
If you don’t have a mode of transportation, the university is going to do their best to provide a bus to and from Good Times. According to Abby Cohen, the Associate Director of Club Sports, Intramurals and Student Engagement, there has been communication between Bona’s and Good Times in regaurds to a shuttle back and forth.
“Rob DeFazio and myself did meet with Good Times of Olean and there will be buses at some point very soon,” said Cohen. “We are in the process of working out the details.”
Good Times is about a 10-minute drive from campus. But whether you take the bus or carpool with friends, there is no reason not to drive over to Good Times.

We may not have Bonaventure Square yet, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have a Good Time.
