On Tuesday, a Bona Venture reporter received a tip about an alleged robbery of one of the March of Dimes collection boxes in Café La Verna.
The boxes had only been in the café for about a week, according to an anonymous tipper.
Vito Czyz, director of Safety and Security, said in a Sept. 11 email there had been no report of a cash theft incident of that nature.
One of the first witnesses, who wished to remain anonymous, described the environment of the café on Monday night when the incident allegedly happened.
“One of the employees noticed it was on the table, ripped open, money gone,” the witness said. “I find it very disappointing.”
The tipper also mentioned pranks and drunkenness as potential motives behind the alleged robbery.
“(It was also) possibly a dare, because that does happen now and then,” the tipper said.
