As a result of high water levels from rainstorms earlier in the semester, construction is underway in the parking lot behind the John J. Murphy Professional Building.
“The purpose of the construction is to improve storm drainage and prevent future incidents of flooding in the Shay-Lo lot,” Phil Winger, associate vice president for facilities, said. “We are adding three storm inlets and redirecting the flow to a drain pipe of greater capacity over toward Plassmann (Hall).”
Richard Peck Construction of Allegany will be responsible for the updates behind Murphy, according to Winger. The entire project will cost more than $20,000.
Construction began on Monday, Sept. 30, and is likely to finish sometime this week, according to Winger.
