If you’ve ever wanted to see the sights of the world, you’ll want to make your way over to the Loft on the third floor of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Thursday, Nov. 7. Photographs taken from all around the world will be displayed for the St. Bonaventure community to see.
The coolest part? All photographs have been taken by Bonaventure students who have studied abroad.
Senior art history and visual arts major Jennifer Koehler created the exhibition as her capstone project.
“The idea came to me after I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain,” Koehler said. “I wanted to create an art exhibition that connected studying abroad to an art form, and I knew it had to be photography. The photographs students take while studying abroad are visually stunning.”
According to Koehler, the pictures depict students’ experience studying abroad in various parts of the world.
“The photographs will allow students to get a feel for what it is like studying abroad in different areas of the world,” she said. “There will be information on each study abroad program on panels, and pamphlets will be available to take as well.”
While the exhibition will showcase some of the different areas of the world where Bonaventure students can study, Koehler hopes students will focus on the art behind the pictures as well.
“I want the exhibition to promote the arts and study abroad experiences at St. Bonaventure University,” Koehler said. “The exhibition will be an event that promotes culture, diversity and artistic expression.”
