Alumni Services will be hosting an event with a panel of Bonaventure alumni next Thursday, Feb. 6, for students of all years entitled, “Once a Bonnie, Always a Bonnie.”
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. It will begin with a dessert reception followed by a panel of graduates who will answer questions about post-graduation from the crowd along with prepared questions.
The main objective of the panel is to allow current students to start networking while they’re still in college. The panel will truthfully answer questions students have about life after graduation, Monica Mattioli from Alumni Services said.
Most students aren’t aware of the importance of Alumni Services after graduation, Mattioli said.
Alumni Services is in charge of bringing alumni back for homecoming and class reunions. In addition, they stay connected with alumni to make sure they’re familiar with Bonaventure chapters throughout the nation, according to Mattioli. These chapters are made up of Bonaventure alumni who live in the same area. The chapters are important for networking and can offer a group of friends to students who just graduated and moved to an unfamiliar area.
While it may be the last thought on students’ minds, these connections are important for the future, Mattioli said. By getting an idea of how Alumni Services works now, current students can get a grasp on how valuable it will be after they graduate.
The event is a way for students to begin networking with Bonaventure alumni now rather than later, Mattioli said.
There will be a door prize that everyone attending will be eligible for. Additionally, some professors will offer extra credit to students who attend.
