Last Saturday, the St. Bonaventure Lacrosse team lost its third consecutive game to Binghamton by a score of 19-3.

Binghamton came out hard and scored seven goals in the first 13 minutes of the game.

Meanwhile the Bonnies started slowly and couldn’t get the ball into the offensive zone for about 10 minutes. However, sophomore midfielder LeighAnn Stauffer was able to put the first goal in the net.

“LeighAnn’s goal came off a pretty bad pass that she recovered, and she actually got the goalie to step out and she shot up high over the goalie,” Lynn said.

Later, both of the Bonnies top goal scorers, freshman attacker Taylor Fallon and sophomore attacker Mikayla Place, contributed a goal.

Senior goalkeeper, Sarah Schlagenhauf made seven saves.

Nevertheless, the team never gained enough momentum to close the gap.

According to Coach Ryan Lynn, the team is still struggling with shot placement and possession just as it had in preceding games. Hopefully by fixing these components of the game, they can capitalize on more opportunities to better their game, he added.

“The team is struggling on the draws no matter how much the matchups changed,” Lynn said.

After having a week off and utilizing the time to look at video footage of the last game, the team is preparing to play at Albany today and at Siena Sunday.

Albany will be a tough opponent based on the team’s history. Albany is currently ranked first in the American East Conference and Siena is ranked sixth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Therefore as the team anticipates the weekend, Lynn wants his team to “work as sixteen.” Essentially, this means he believes the entire team needs to work together and be able to stand up to the challenges as a team every game in order to be successful.
