After canceling its match against Albany,  scheduled for March 14, the lacrosse team dropped three straight games.

The squad lost a close game, 18-13, to Niagara. Going into the second half, the girls were down 12-3, but the team answered back and closed the gap in the remainder of the game.

Sophomore midfielder LeighAnn Stauffer played well again, scoring five goals.

Meanwhile, freshman midfielder Scarlet Jaworski tallied three goals, sophomore attacker Mikayla Place and freshman attacker Maddison Appel each scored two and freshman attacker Erica Knaub scored one. Goalkeeper Sara Schlagenhauf made 12 saves.

On Sunday, Iona defeated the Bonnies 12-5. In the beginning of the game, Place scored a goal to set her season record of eight.

Her goal tied the game 1-1. Then, senior midfielder Lily Timlin tallied two consecutive goals to help close out the first half.

After several minutes in the second half, freshman midfielder Mary Maestri scored her first goal of the season.

Timlin tallied another to close the game. Overall, Schlagenhauf made 15 saves.

On Tuesday, the girls lost to Colgate, 18-6. Top scorer Stauffer scored yet again three goals to make her season total 12.  Stauffer put a goal in 17 minutes into the first half to make the game 4-1.

Not too long after, she added another to make the score 6-2. Later on with 1:28 left in the first half, Jaworski capitalized on the moment and found the back of the net to end the first half at 7-3.

When the Bonnies went back onto the field, Jaworski scored another goal four minutes into the second half.

To finish off the game, Place tallied a goal, and Stauffer added another goal off a free position shot to end the game.

The team will play their first home game against Delaware State next on Monday at 3 p.m.
