Welcome to this week’s Fashion Focus. This week finally felt like spring. The sun is shining, the temperatures are above 30, the sidewalks are clear and snow-free and everyone is smiling. With this change in weather comes a change in your wardrobe.
Although the sun may be a bit deceiving, we still need to wear warm clothes for a few more weeks. However, we can make slight adjustments to our daily attire. The one main change I have made is my footwear. To fight through the endless snow, I needed a strong pair of boots. Thankfully these can be put to the back of our wardrobes until next winter. The opposing struggle when the weather gets really warm is to keep your feet cool and odor free. I can see how wearing flip flops and socks can be an easy, quick option, but there are nicer alternatives.
I have noticed a lot of boys and girls around campus lately wearing lovely sneakers. In the past, I would have only worn sneakers to run or Converse for casual wear. I never would have worn a normal pair of sneakers casually before. Maybe it’s the laid-back American style catching up to me, but I am big into sneakers, especially the bright-colored and patterned Nike Roshe that are in style this season. Not only are they super comfy, but they are really pretty. There are so many different styles, for both casual wear and for running. I’m trying to train for a half marathon, and my biggest motivation is my sneakers. It sounds silly that having a nice new pair of sneaks really motivated me to go for an afternoon run as opposed to my usual afternoon naps. There are many different styles out there. All the shoe stores have great variety for both men and women, so I had to look around. I created the two following boards – one for women and one for men. Out of all the shoe brands of both men and women, Nike and New Balance definitely had the best in terms of style and price.
