Walking into St. Bonaventure University as a freshman for the first time can be both exhilarating and nerve racking for first-year students. While registering for spring semester classes, seniors are faced with the realization that graduation day is quickly approaching.

It is imperative to appreciate the amount of dedication that seniors have put forth while preparing to build their resumes, self-sufficiency and academic success. For many seniors, staying academically stable and having a set career goal are their main priorities.

“I want to graduate and finish strongly and make it on the dean’s list,” Corinne Lettieri, a senior journalism and mass communications major said. As an RA, Lettieri keeps busy; however, she is determined to pass all of her classes and enjoy her last semester of college. Her future career goal is to work for a TV news station as a producer and eventually work her way up to executive producer.

Though it’s essential to strive to achieve academic-related goals, it is also important for seniors to achieve personal goals before graduating.

“One thing I want to achieve is helping my peers win,” Justin Statia, a senior strategic communications and digital media major said. Statia attended an American advertising federation class, in which he felt he could’ve done better in. “We didn’t do too well last year…this year we can knock them out of the park.” Though this goal seems entirely academic related, it also reflects on Statia’s personal growth.

Shannon Conheady, a senior history major, expressed her love for the community, Bona family and friends that she has made throughout her years at Bonas. Bonaventure has also taught her how to make connections on a personal level with everyone she meets.

“That’s vital and the connections I made here are ones that will last,”Conheady said.

Lettieri, Statia and Conheady are all examples of what Bonnie seniors represent. Throughout their four years at Bonaventure, their goals, aspirations and dedication have brought them far in their academic careers and will continue to help them grow.

Learning from their past mistakes, seniors offered their last words of wisdom to the underclassmen.

“If you do it right, four years in college is enough.” Lettieri said.

“Go to class and do the work,” Conheady added. “Find something you’re passionate about here and stick to it.”
