Buffalo Brief

in SPORTS/Uncategorized by

Western New Yorkers love Buffalo sports. While other areas of the country may ignore this great city, many locals are infatuated with its regional teams. So here it is: The BV’s take on all things Buffalo sports.

Sabres

BREAKING NEWS: The Sabres have stupidly won three of their last five games.

With wins over the Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maples Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes (and loses to the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Islanders), the Sabres are now officially on a hot streak. And good timing on their part as the season has just two games left.

The Sabres’ 23-49-8 record is horrendous, but Buffalo will attempt to break the 25-win plateau as they close their season tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets and tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 2014-2015 season is one to forget for Buffalo fans, but the darkness will soon lead to light next season as the Sabres eye drafting either Connor McDavid or Jake Eichel.

 Bills

After a busy offseason filled with signings and surprises, the Bills have one more move to make before they compete in the 2015-2016 NFL season.

There is a decision to be made for sure—should the Bills sign free-agent safety Dawan Landry? A former Jets in the Rex Ryan era of New York football, Landry would surely improve Buffalo’s already outstanding defense, but at what price would Landry come (reports say a $2 million deal would do the trick)?

The Bills have $7.3 million left in cap room, but not all of that cash can go to one single player (draft picks and in-season signings may come into play). If the Bills want to send a bold, assertive message to the rest of the AFC East, then signing Landry is a must.

Bisons

With spring hitting Buffalo this week, baseball has also returned to the Queen City. The Toronto Blue Jays’ AAA affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons started their season on Thursday and will be in action throughout the summer.

MLB legends such as Josh Thole, Felix Doubront and Daric Barton will take Buffalo by storm in the upcoming months, so don’t forget to arrive at Coca-Cola Field early to snag those highly-desired autographs.
