Western New Yorkers love Buffalo sports. While other areas of the country may ignore this great city, many locals are infatuated with its regional teams. So here it is: The BV’s take on all things Buffalo sports.
Bisons
The Bisons have been rolling as they lead the International League’s North division. With stars like Matt Hauge and Ryan Goins leading the team, it’s no wonder Buffalo has stormed to the top. The Bisons lost their first two games this week, but they rebounded, beating the Norfolk Tides 2-1 behind a stellar performance from journeyman pitcher Steve Delabar.
Bills
The draft was yesterday. Due to The BV’s time constraints, we don’t konw what happened, but we do know the Bills weren’t involved in the early action. Buffalo traded this year’s pick to the Browns last year in an effort to draft Sammy Watkins. Watkins was solid for the Bills last season, but other rookies such as the Giant’s Odell Beckham outplayed Watkins last year, leaving skeptics to question if the trade was worth making. Did the Bills pull a Stevie Johnson and shoot themselves in the leg? Only time will tell.
The good news forBills’ employees is that with no picks Thursday night, front office personnel will have one less night they have to spend trapped in the War Room with Rex Ryan. And since the Bills have signed a slew of surefire hall of famers this offseason including Tyrod Taylor, who needs first round picks anyway?
Bandits
The Bandits are 10-7 on the season and have clinched a playoff spot. They played their last two games last weekend, beating Vancouver 17-9 and New England 20-9. Even if the playoffs don’t treat the Bandits well, some of the players might be able to play for the Bills. At least the Bandits players know how to score
