A survey to assess student interest in the prospect of on-campus storage was emailed to students this past week.
The Office of Student Affairs and Maintenance Department proposed allowing students to store some of their general residence hall belongings and small furniture on campus over summer breaks and between fall and spring semesters.
The items would be stored in a currently unoccupied wing of Loughlen Hall. Students would be allotted a specific amount of space inside one of the vacant residence hall rooms to keep their belongings, according to Rebecca Wager, assistant director for residential living.
All items would be labeled with the student’s name and assigned space, Wager said.
Wager added the service would come at a cost to students, competitive with other storage service rates in the area. However, specific numbers will be assessed after a sense of student interest is determined through the survey.
“The main goal of allowing students to store belongings on campus is ultimately for the benefit and convenience of our students,” Wager said. “We are less concerned with revenue and more-so focused on bringing helpful services to our students.”
