The Bonnies defeated the University of Loyola Greyhounds, 94-82.
They jumped out to an early first-half lead and never trailed again. At the end of the first half, the Bonnies looked like they were going to run away with the game as they went into the half with a 16- point lead, 50-34.
The buckets were falling all game for the Bonnies, as a team they shot 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc. Bench scoring was key for the Bonnies, dropping 20 total points on the bench. As Posley and Wright continued their scoring saga, they had help as when the buzzer sounded and the game was final, four players were in double figures in the scoring category.
Stars of the game were senior guard Marcus Posley, who led the team with 26 points and 5 assists and senior forward Dion Wright with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
“We need Dion [Wright], Marcus [Posley] and Jay [Jaylen Adams] to play well, to be able to score the ball well,” said Head Coach Mark Schmidt. “From an offensive stand point, they scored 64 points.”
Schmidt talked about how playing as a team has to go both ways.
“We have to be a team on both ends and tonight we were only a team on one end,” said Schmidt.
