Valentine’s Day is this upcoming weekend, and Bonaventure students are getting ready to spend the day with their loved ones. What students plan to do can be the most important part of the day.
Freshman marketing major Selena Clemons, an Olean native, shared her insight on some of the best restaurants in the area.
“My mind always tends to drift to Randy’s Up the River (or Randy’s Fireside in Westons Mills) if you’re looking for a great burger and a relaxed, home-ish ambiance,” said Clemons.
Clemons also suggested some more expensive eating options.
“I would recommend Brother’s Bistro, Beef ‘n’ Barrel and Angees as my top three places for a Valentine’s Day dinner. They all have a great ambiance and atmosphere. They keep it classy while also making it comfortable.”
All three restaurants provide casual fare such as soups and salads. Angees in particular specializes in Italian food.
Clemons also called attention to some of the more prominent restaurants in the area, including The Century Manor and The Point, both located in Olean.
“If someone is looking to stay in the area but make a short drive to Ellicottville, I would absolutely recommend any of the restaurants there, especially Dina’s and The Gin Mill.”
For Clemons, she plans on spending the day before Valentine’s Day with her friends.
“The day before Valentine’s Day, my friends and I are going to Ellicottville to celebrate ‘Galentine’s Day,’ a day coined by Leslie Knope on the show ‘Parks and Recreation,’ full of activities to spend the day with your girlfriends,” said Clemons, “We’re going to start with an early dinner at Dina’s, look around in the shops, and then head back to Olean to go see a Valentine’s Day movie at Carmike,” she said.
While there are many options for great food in the area, Clemons plans on cooking for her boyfriend.
“On Valentine’s Day, I plan on my boyfriend and I spending the day together relaxing, and I want to test out my cooking skills,” said Clemons.
