Find a Blogger Platform

There are a number of sites that allow you to create your own blog, such as WordPress and Blogger. Both hosting sites are free, low-maintenance services, providing users with a domain, customizable themes, basic fonts and widgets.

Create a blog name

As a blogger, creating a unique name is essential, because it will be the center of your brand. Gravitate towards a name that holds great significance to you, including your favorite article of clothing, a phrase that you adore or your biological name. Add a word synonymous with fashion to create a distinct name, too.

For example, Jenn Im, an L.A.-based fashion blogger and YouTuber, chose the catchy phrase ‘Clothes Encounters’ for her blog and social media outlets, while fashion and interior design blogger Aimee Song created ‘Song of Style.’

Find a Theme

Presentation is everything. Be sure to invest time or money into an amazing theme for your blog. Select a tasteful color palette and an enticing visual display by adding quality pictures, video footage and widgets.

Create a Logo

Put your creative skills to the test by using Photo Monkey and Adobe Photoshop to create a basic or multidimensional logo. For a professional logo, simply hire a freelance graphic designer from websites like Peopleperhour.com.

Find a Niche

Find a topic in fashion that often goes overlooked or combine your interests to form your main topic. For example, if you’re interested in history and activism, focus on the historical aspects of fashion, such as key moments where fashion was at the forefront of politics.

Use Social Media

Use social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to promote your posts. Make sure to use hashtags to get your work noticed and find fellow fashion bloggers. To have your work featured, tag clothing brands or simply submit your photos to social networking accounts tailored for fashion bloggers such as @Wearit_loveit and @Aboutalook on Instagram and Outfit of the Day magazine.

Join Blog Communities

Network with fellow fashion enthusiasts and join fashion groups on LinkedIn or websites such as the Independent Fashion Bloggers. Both sites offer the opportunity for you to collaborate with local bloggers and learn more about fashion events and the entrepreneurial aspects of blogging.
