After 16 seasons as St. Bonaventure’s women’s head basketball coach, Jim Crowley has decided to leave the women’s program for a job with the Providence Friars, according to GoBonnies.com.
Crowley’s record was 258-231 as the coach of the Bonnies. Crowley won A10 Coach of the Year three times in 2009, 2012 and 2014. He also led the women’s team to two NCAA Tournaments and four WNIT Tournaments.
In 2012, he led the team to an Atlantic 10 regular season title and a Sweet Sixteen run in the NCAA Tournament. He won ESPN National Coach of the Year that year as well.
Crowley is leaving the Bonnies for a team that struggled in the 2015-2016 season. The Friars were 5-24 and 1-17 in Big East play. He will be going into a program that hasn’t had a winning season in over seven years.
According to Athletic Director Tim Kenny, a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
