Choir and Band perform free concert

in Uncategorized by

The St. Bonaventure music department is presenting a concert this Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Rigas Theater. The concert is free and will last about an hour.
The concert will be performed by the St. Bonaventure Choir and Band. The band and choir provide two concerts every semester. The Bonaventure musicians and signers had six weeks to prepare for this Sunday.
Leslie M. Sabina, Ph.D., talked about the theme and focus of the concert.
“The choir’s theme is the music of Broadway composer, Stephen Sondheim,” said Sabina. “The band is presenting a variety of music, with two pieces by master band composer, Robert Sheldon.”
Along with having a varied overall theme, the show will also present some songs that everyone can sing along to.
“All songs are very listenable and many of them are familiar. For example, the band will also play some well-known Scottish folk tunes and a medley of tunes from Pixar movies. And the Sondheim material is from plays such as Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods, and Follies,” said Sabina.
So, come out on an easy Sunday afternoon to listen to the musical talent that many Bonnies possess here on campus.
As Sabina said, this concert is “to enjoy a stress-free hour on a Sunday afternoon listening to good music; music that is well performed by excellent SBU musicians. Seriously, it’s always nice to see your friends in a new or different situation, and to discover their hidden talents! And hopefully, maybe attending a concert will entice one to join either the band or choir.”
