Fall is in full swing. Well, we all think it is.

As soon as Starbucks comes out with their pumpkin spice lattes, fall is on everyone’s mind. Even with the slightest weather change, people break out their favorite cozy sweaters and tall boots.

Fall is my favorite season because of the option to layer clothing. There is no better feeling than wearing an oversizsweater with a big chunky scarf, leggings and riding boots. It almost feels like you are wearing pajamas to class. Now who wouldn’t love that?
Some staple pieces everyone should have in their fall wardrobe is your favorite chunky sweater, cardigan, long-selves or turtlenecks and flannels.

Putting together different outfits is not difficult at all. The best way to start is finding a piece that you love and then building the outfit around that.
First thing’s first – chunky sweaters. Chunky sweaters are a great staple for your fall wardrobe. They are comfy, but put together at the same time. If it is a warmer fall day, but still a little chilly, you can tuck it into a skirt. I prefer something with texture like denim, suede or corduroy.

Pair it with a cute belt and over-the-knee boots or booties. If you are running late for class, wear it off the shoulder with leggings and cozy boots. Then, throw your hair in a top knot and you are good to go.

The next staple piece you need in your fall wardrobe is a long cardigan. Either a solid color or – if you are feeling bold – a patterned cardigan.

Cardigans are great to layer with and can be dressed up or down easily depending on your style or the occasion.
If you are going for a casual look, pair the cardigan with a turtleneck or flannel, leggings or jeans and riding boots, or even rain boots depending on the weather. For a dressier look, you can wear a casual top with a statement necklace or a blouse, tuck it into jeans or a skirt with booties or nice riding boots.

Flannels are a great fall top that are quick and easy. And, they can really make an outfit. They are the perfect top to spice up your everyday class outfits, dinner with your girlfriends, apple picking or a trip to the cider mill.

I love layering my flannels under vests with leggings or jeans and riding boots. You can alter the look depending on where you are going or the mood that you are in. If you are going for a dressier look, pair the flannel with a button-up skirt, booties and a statement necklace. If it is cold and rainy out, go for a baggy and oversized “boyfriend style,” paired with leggings, rain boots and a cute rain jacket.

Even if you are shopping on a budget, you can buy a couple staple pieces and mix and match different outfits.
So cozy up with your chunky sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes, burning your favorite fall candle and you’ll officially be in the season!
