Sweater weather adds fall flair

in FEATURES/Uncategorized by

As college students, we are always looking to maximize our budget and are all about multi-use items. With colder weather already in full swing, every store you go into will have sweaters and hopefully they are going to be on sale.

Lucky for us, Olean has an Old Navy and they are always – and I mean always – having sales! There is no need to buy things full price – full price is for high rollers!

If a new sweater is not in the budget, it is okay. Sweaters are a staple piece that can be used season after season because they never go out of style.
All you need for this look is one sweater of your choice; the rest of the pieces I guarantee you already have in your closet.

Cropped sweaters are all the rage this season. I would pair this type of sweater with high-waisted denim jeans, or a high-waisted skirt with tights. For shoes, you can either wear booties – low or high, a pair of slip-on sneakers or a pair of mules. Lastly, for accessories, you can throw on your favorite bracelet, watch, earrings and you are completely styled.

The classic sweater is something everyone has in their closet. This is the go-to sweater for all occasions. I would also pair this with a pair of denim jeans – high waisted or regular, or leggings. You can either wear part of the sweater tucked in, all the way tucked, regular or you can tie it into a little knot to the side. The classic sweater is so versatile that you can wear it however you want to according to your mood. You can also pair this with booties, riding boots, or rain boots.

Next, we have cardigans. Cardigans are great if you love to layer during the colder months. The trick is starting off with your base – which is picking what kind of bottoms you want – leggings or jeans, then just a simple T-shirt. This can either be a graphic t-shirt, with a pattern or just your basic t-shirt. Put the cardigan over top, and tie your t-shirt to the side or tuck it into your pants so it gives you some shape. You can add a giant blanket scarf to the look or just keep it how it is. To finish it off, throw on some boots of choice.

Long sweaters are great if you want to be comfortable with an effortless look. The best way to achieve this look is just putting on a pair of leggings, fuzzy boots and a scarf. This is the most popular look for college students because it is effortless, keeps you warm and lets you sleep in a couple more minutes before having to get up for class.

Next time you are struggling trying to figure out how to style your fall sweater, keep in consideration some of these tips. Don’t get stressed because you don’t have the trendy fall pieces. Everything you need, you already have in your closet!
