As the semester comes to an end, and finals week is right around the corner, the university will be hosting events for finals week.
At 7 p.m. on Dec. 6, “Exams, Papers, Holidays, Oh My” will be a chance for students to talk to Wellness Center counselor, Melanie Gerber, Adriane Spencer, disability support services coordinator, and Chris Anderson, director of the Center for Student Wellness.
They will be discuss strategies on how to deal with finals week. It will be broken up into three different segments. Coping with end of the year stressors and how to balance papers and exams out will be only a few of the topics. Anderson will be discussing healthy use of social media.
“People tend to have a temptation to put stress on social media to elicit sympathy and there are untrustworthy people who will misuse this information,” said Anderson.
There will also be opportunities to ask questions.
Stress Free Night is an opportunity for students to take a complete break from exams and papers. A holiday movie will be played and students will have the opportunity to make Christmas crafts. Food and drinks will be provided and a massage therapist will be giving students free massages to relieve stress. This will be held in Doyle Dining room on Dec. 8 from 7 to 10 p.m.
Campus Activities Board will also be sponsoring Christmas carols. Les Sabina and Band will be performing in Café La Verna on Dec. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. Free hot cocoa and cookies will be provided.
Trivia Night will be held Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. in the Rathskeller. Free buffalo chicken wing dip and soda will be offered. Prizes to the bookstore of $10 and $25 will be given to first and second place teams.
