When one thinks about the colors in closets a few years ago compared to today, there would be quite a difference. Dull, dark autumn colors matching with the themes of fall and the holidays that come with it. These colors would be paired with rustic, brown riding boots and maybe a plaid scarf.
Today, the fall fashion has evolved from dull, basic autumn colors to vibrant, neon colors that are worn year-round. Mustard yellows are still a great color option as well as army greens, but bright yellows, pinks, oranges, greens and blues are encouraged in the fashion world.
One trendy outfit idea to try this fall is wearing a bright-neon, lime-green, bright-magenta or a nice bright-blue cozy sweater with boyfriend or mom jeans. This outfit would pair nicely with Dr. Marten-styled boots or pointed-toe booties. Thick or thin socks look nice when worn with Dr. Martens, so it doesn’t matter if cozy-weather socks show. These items could be found on many online shopping sites including H&M, Zara, MissPap and Lulu’s.
A second idea is to wear a funky-colored pair of corduroy pants with almost any top. Mixing and matching colors is a fun, current trend that can be taken advantage of here.
Sneakers have also become a fun shoe choice for many outfits today and are acceptable year-round if the conditions are decent. Brandy Melville has a great selection of pants to look at, but unfortunately, the brand does not carry many sizes. Stores like Urban Outfitters and Lulus are great places to look for styles like these. Trendy street sneakers would also be found on these sites as well as many athletic shoe sites.
If you want a more laid back look on a cold, early morning, leggings and oversized knit sweaters look great with athletic sneakers. If it is a bit warmer out, you don’t even need a jacket, but if it is a chilly day, a large jean or puffer jacket would match nicely.
Oversized graphic shirts are another option, especially with a large denim jacket and slide on sneakers. You can find sneakers like this on many websites and in many stores. If you find yourself at a mall, you can find sneakers like this in DSW, Steve Madden, Macy’s and Lord and Taylor. They can also be found on sites similar to those mentioned above.
Skirts can still be worn when the weather starts to cool down, and they are extremely trendy. Sweaters and oversized coats look great with both short and long skirts This outfit would work best with tall boots and tall socks. Plaid short skirts are a super cute idea for an evening look paired with a light sweater, jacket, platform shoes, and styled socks.
One last outfit idea for incorporating bright colors is in plaid flare pants. These can be worn with basic, white socks and Nike sneakers or chunky boots like Dr. Marten’s.
Each of these outfit ideas can all be carried on into the winter season when worn with layers and a nice warm jacket and hat.
