The St. Bonaventure University baseball team travelled to Fordham University last weekend for a four-game series. The Rams took three out of four games in the series, but there were multiple positive takeaways from the Bonnies play this past weekend.

Bonaventure won the first game of Friday’s double header by a score of 7-4.

Center fielder Garrett Boldt collecting two hits in five at bats. Boldt also tallied two RBI’s and runs in the win.

Kevin Higgins collected three hits in four tries with four RBI’s and a walk in Friday’s game one win.

The Bonnies luck would run out as the Rams would take the next three games if the weekend set. The next three games would see the Rams outscore the Bonnies 14-6 in route to 4-1, 3-0 and 7-5 victories.

Fordham pitcher Matt Mikulski held Bonaventure to one hit over a seven-inning game in Saturday’s first game, while Rams pitcher Garrett Crowley tossed seven complete innings only giving up two hits and one earned run. The Rams would tally 14 hits in its win in game two on Saturday.

The Bonnies are 2-11, but there have been some bright spots.

Bonaventure is led in batting average by Tyler Kelder who is hitting .348 and slugging .761. Kelder also leads the team with four home runs, seven doubles, 16 hits and 12 runs.

Ben Berger also tops the charts in offensive statistics. Berger is hitting .310 with four RBI’s and two stolen bases. Matthew Williams leads the team in RBI’s with seven and is perfect with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Kyle Caringi is leading the Bonnies with a 3.65 earned run average in five relief appearances this season.

Elijah Baez and Donavan Moffat have each started four games this season and pitched themselves to 4.03 and 4.10 ERA’s. Moffat leads the team in strikeouts with 18, while Baez lead the Bonnies in opponent batting average of .235.

The Bonnies will shift their focus to the Saint Joseph’s University Hawks for a three-game, weekend series at Fred Handler Park this weekend.
