Last season, the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team had zero depth for insurance behind Osun Osunniyi at the center position.

Now, they have plenty, as the team has just received their fourth commitment of the early offseason.

Wednesday, the Bonaventure athletics department confirmed the commitment of Oluwasegun Durosinmi, who signed his National Letter of Intent to join the team for the next four seasons.

“Coach said the right things and the situation was perfect for me,” Durosinmi said. “I’m just going to come in and help the team… I’m going to help out Osun, backing him up. We were just A-10 champs, I can come in and learn from the veterans.”

Durosinmi played a half season for Harcum College (Pa.), which is in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Durosinmi joined the team in the second semester after graduating high school early.

“Duro brings an outstanding amount of athleticism and intangibles you just can’t teach,” head coach Mark Schmidt said to GoBonnies.com. “He has tremendous God-given abilities as well as the desire to continue to learn and get better. He has good touch around the basket and will be able to score in the low post. He wants to expand his game to stretch the floor and shoot from the perimeter as well. His wingspan will give him the ability to block and alter shots and be an impact player on the defensive end. We’re really looking forward to getting him on campus with us and working with him on a daily basis.”

Known as an elite shotblocker, Durosinmi is the perfect backup and eventual successor of Osunniyi in the middle of the key.

The 6-foot-9 center had an unbelievable 78 blocks in just 18 games in his long half-seasons at Harcum.

As an example of his unreal ability, on Feb. 25, Durosinmi had an unreal game, finishing with 15 points, 18 rebounds and 11 blocks. He had a triple-double, and it wasn’t close, thanks to 11 blocks.

Durosinmi had power-five offers out of high school, including Florida and Georgetown, but decided to attend a JUCO before moving into a Division-I program.

Durosinmi is the fourth individual to commit to Bonaventure for the 2021-22 season, third from the transfer portal but the first to come from a JUCO. The other three recruits are Justin Ndjock-Tadjore, Quadry Adams (Wake Forest) and Karim Coulibaly (Pittsburgh).

“I’ll do anything to help my team win,” said Durosinmi. “I don’t take this for granted. I’m going to come in and play hard.”
