A new addition has been added to the St. Bonaventure University golf course. The new Fairway View Pavilion will be open to the Bonaventure community from April 15 to April 18 before officially opening to the public on Monday.
The current New York State guidelines will be in place. There will be 75% capacity and attendees may be unmasked whilst seated. The Pavilion has been in the works for years, officially beginning construction in February 2020.
“We began the planning of the Pavilion about three years ago when we decided to close and demolish the former Clubhouse Restaurant that was located where the Pavilion is now,” said Tom Missel, the chief communications officer at the university. “Restoring the Clubhouse Restaurant was just too cost prohibitive to make any sense.”
The Pavilion was established to help grow business and the community.
“Through many discussions, it was decided that demographically an establishment like the Pavilion was really lacking in our area and would not only be a desired location for the campus community but also the local community,” said Missel.
It was important to add more business to this area.
“Adding another business to the community that we believe will be successful is always important, especially as we begin to come out of a pandemic that’s been damaging to so many businesses,” said Missel. “But I think it’s really important for the viability of the golf course.”
At the Fairway Pavilion, which overlooks the second fairway, there is a full bar, a fireplace and flat screen televisions. There are 47 seats inside the Pavilion and 65 seats out on the patio.
“The Fairway View Pavilion is a full-service bar and restaurant that offers a variety of food and beverage options,” said Nicole Clark, general manager of Aramark. “The menu includes nine different openers, four different salad options and 12 different sandwich options.”
The campus community is invited to try the new restaurant. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a 10% discount on orders of food for this period.
Customers will be able to pay with cash and credit cards. Students can also pay with the school’s Flex Dollars and Bona Bucks.
“In addition, we will be offering dinner specials on both Friday and Saturday nights beginning April 23, 2021,” said Clark. “It also will be offering a full bar and will have a wide variety of beer, wine, seltzer and spirit options.”
No purchases of alcohol can be made with the school’s Flex Dollars or Bona Bucks.
There are high spirits around the opening of the Pavilion.
“Having an attractive establishment to stop at after a round means a lot in the golf industry. Even though the course is run solely by the university, the Pavilion is a joint operation of the university and Aramark, the businesses can be very beneficial to each other’s success,” said Missel.
