It is already the end of October. Halloween has quickly approached. Here are some great activities to get into the spooky mood.

Pumpkin picking is a must do fall activity. Go with friends or family to a pumpkin patch and find a nice pumpkin. Decorate the porch or doorstep with plain pumpkins for a simplistic look. Or get creative and carve or paint the pumpkin. You can carve a jack-o’-lantern face for a classic design. Painting a favorite sports team logo could be cool.

For those who are in for a good scare, visit a haunted house or go on a haunted hayride. Some of the characters are pretty scary, especially the ones covered in blood or carrying around a chainsaw. They pop out of nowhere and make people scream. For the scaredy cats out there, consider giving it a try. It is not as bad as it seems.

Another way to celebrate the spooky season is to decorate. There are many ways to decorate for Halloween. You can follow a movie theme or just try to make the space look scary. Use pumpkins, fake spiders, cauldrons, brooms and spiderwebs. You can add orange, purple or green LEDs. Have fun with the decorations.

Listening to a great Halloween playlist will make decorating even more fun. Some good song options are “Vampire” by Dominic Fike, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Calling all the Monsters” by China Anne McClain, “Zombie” by The Cranberries, “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, “E.T.” by Katy Perry, “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett & The Crypt Kickers, “Ghost” by Justin Bieber, “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads, “Money in the Grave” by Drake featuring Rick Ross, “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr., “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell, “The Monster” by Eminem featuring Rhianna and “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon.

Watching at least one Halloween movie during the fall is essential. There are tons of Halloween movies and horror movies to choose from. Some great movie options include “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993), “Ghostbusters” (1984), “Beetlejuice” (1988) and “Monster House” (2006). Potential horror movie options include “Halloween” (2018), “It” (2017) and “Annabelle” (2014).

While watching the movie, enjoy fall treats such as kettle corn, apple cider and candy. You can bake Halloween cookies or cupcakes and go crazy with decorating them. Potential design ideas are pumpkins, ghosts, spiders, witches and mummies. For those who want to be super creative consider making a Halloween themed gingerbread haunted house or graveyard.

To really get in the Halloween spirit, put on a costume and take pictures. You can dress up and do makeup or face paint to complement the costume. Some costumes that are sure to be trendy this year include contestants from “Squid Game,” Black Widow and Cruella de Vil.

Dressing up as celebrity couples like Elon Musk and Grimes or Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker could be creative couples costumes. Other easy Halloween costumes include a tourist (wear a Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses and a bucket hat), a basketball player (wear a basketball jersey) and a lifeguard (wear a red sweatshirt and a whistle).
