Marvel recently released a new poster for “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” It features Spider-Man and Doctor Strange surrounded by robotic tentacles. There is also a small image of what seems to be the Green Goblin in the background.

Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker posted the new poster on Instagram with the caption, “The multiverse is real!” The poster shows a city in the background, but it is also upside-down in the sky which seems to signify that the multiverse has been opened.

In the multiverse a group of many universes. In this movie it seems like some of the universes will collide and villains from alternate universes will end up in Parker’s universe.

In the first trailer Parker is having trouble now that everyone knows that he is Spider-Man after Mysterio revealed his identity in the last movie, “Spider-Man: Far from Home.” He is facing a lot of backlash from the public and many people are blaming him for Mysterio’s death.

Parker asks Doctor Strange if it is possible to cast a spell that will make the world forget that he is Spider-Man. Wong warns against casting that spell but Strange does it anyway. Parker voices his second thoughts and concerns about his family and friends who will no longer know that he is Spider-Man if the spell works. Strange tells him to stop talking because it is messing with the spell. It seems to have tampered with time and opened up the multiverse. Doctor Octopus shows up at the end of the trailer.

The cast includes Alfred Molina, Rhys Ifans and Jamie Fox. Molina is playing Dr. Otto Octavius or villain Dr. Octopus in the film. He also played the same role in “Spider-Man 2” which starred Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.

Ifans played Dr. Curt Connors or the Lizard in “The Amazing Spider-Man” which starred Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. Fox is playing Electro or Max Dillion, which he played in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Willem Dafoe and Thomas Hayden Church have not yet been confirmed to be part of the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” cast but their characters do appear in the new trailer.

Willem Dafoe played Norman Osborn or Green Goblin in “Spider-Man.” Church played Flint Marko or Sandman in “Spider-Man 3.”

Many fans hope that McGuire and Garfield will make an appearance in the movie since the same actors who played the villains from their movies are. Neither actor has given a clear statement regarding their involvement with the new film.

The returning cast from the previous Marvel Spider-Man movies includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty Brant and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange and Benedict Wong plays Wong, both of which were in other Marvel movies such as “Doctor Strange” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” will be released exclusively in theaters on Dec. 17. For viewers in the United Kingdom, it will be released earlier on Dec. 15.
