It is the final countdown for many St. Bonaventure students who are about to conclude their senior year of undergraduate studies in May. The time is now to make the most out of the last semester here, and these are some ways to make memories to last a lifetime.

Earning the senior status comes with some exclusive perks and celebrations to show appreciation for the hard work put in. On Feb. 12, the senior class is invited to a 100 days until graduation ceremony with a fun 80s theme and complimentary refreshments. Events like this are a great way to gather with fellow classmates and enjoy each other in these final days.

Athletics at St. Bonaventure University is a core part of our community, especially the basketball program. The atmosphere in the Riley Center and on campus on a game day creates a unique sense of “Bona” pride that should be relished while still a student on campus. The spring semester also provides the opportunity for the basketball teams to compete in the A10 tournament. Get together with some friends and watch the games, in-person or on a live stream.

Another unique feature to the spring semester is spring weekend. The Campus Activity Board known as “CAB” selects a weekend to organize various events such as live music, a kickball tournament and a block party. It is also another great time to get out and watch spring sports such as baseball, softball and lacrosse.

There are many areas nearby that are worth checking out. Ellicottville is about a half hour drive from St. Bonaventure and has several small businesses, restaurants and breweries to check out along with the popular Holiday Valley ski resort. Another great spot to hit up is Rock City Park where you can take a hike through the natural rocky local environment.

Downtown Olean and Allegany have staple experiences for students in the area. Olean has great restaurants to dine at such as Angee’s, Beef ‘N’ Barrel and Union Tea Cafe. If you drive about another ten minutes out, the SPCA in Cattaraugus County is always welcoming of volunteers to play with their animals in need such as hanging out in the various cat rooms or taking a dog on a walk.

Allegany holds the hearts of many St. Bonaventure students. Stopping by the Burton for a burger is a classic meal to try, and singing along to Piano Man at the end of the night, arms locked with other students, is a feeling unmatched. Across the street is the infamous Mangia 2.0 where buying a late night slice of pizza and a garlic knot is the most fulfilling midnight snack.

In all, trying to get out with friends on campus or in town and focusing on the connections with those around you is a sure way to have fun and a way to wrap up your time here at St. Bonaventure University.
