On Thursday, St. Bonaventure men’s basketball announced Daryl Banks and Moses Flowers as the captains for the 2022-23 season.
Banks, a redshirt junior from Somerset, New Jersey, comes to Bonaventure after three seasons at Saint Peters University. Last season with the Peacocks, Banks averaged 11.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game and helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament.
Banks scored 27 points in a first-round upset over Kentucky and averaged 13.5 points in four games as the team made its first Elite 8 in program history.
Flowers, a redshirt junior from Dorchester, Massachusetts, joins Bonaventure after three seasons at Hartford. He started 66 games and averaged 14.7 points last season, earning third-team honors in the America East conference.
Flowers has averaged double-figure scoring in each collegiate season and is a career 34.6% 3-point shooter.
Banks and Flowers will look to make an immediate impact on a team retaining just three players from last season — Justin Ndjock-Tadjore, Anouar Mellouk and Brett Rumpel. Four true freshmen join the squad, as well as six transfers.
St. Bonaventure hosts Alfred in an exhibition on Nov. 2 before kicking off the regular season on Nov. 7 against Saint Francis (Pa.).
