During the media timeouts at St. Bonaventure University basketball games there is always something happening on the court. Men and women in bright red t-shirts guide children from the neighboring communities to run across the court or to shoot basketballs. Sometimes there are students doing push-ups to win a prize.

This is made possible through the work of Team Bonas. Team Bonas is a club that gives students the opportunity to work in marketing positions involving athletic programs.

Members say that their goals is to increase student attendance and participation, specifically at the basketball games. During the basketball season there are themed nights including a beach theme, a Christmas theme and the whiteout game.

Team Bonas gives internship hours to students that major in marketing, management, sport studies, journalism or strategic communications.

Students that join Team Bonas work with Logan Moore, the marketing and communications coordinator for Bonaventure.

Moore says that on basketball game days he is in the Reilly Center for more than 12 hours.

“I’ll probably get here at like eight in the morning for work,” Moore said. “And then I’ll probably be here until 10 or 11 at night after the game.”

Moore says that Team Bonas is an opportunity for students to get involved with the ins and outs of how diffrent thletic programs work. He says he started in a similar position to this and transitioned into a full-time role.

The current president of Team Bonas is a senior marketing major. Eboni Duvert has been involved with Team Bonas since she was a freshman. Duvert appreciates the atmosphere of the games she is involved in and likes how the fans are dedicated to attending.

Duvert says that students who join are able to gain experience in the sports-marketing world and understand the importance of what goes on behind the scenes of athletic games.
