With Spring Weekend approaching, the school year is winding down and Bonaventure students have started to make plans for the summer. The last day of classes is on May 4, with finals going until May 10.
Graceann LaFay, a junior educational studies major from Rochester, New York, plans on spending her summer being “a supervisor of a summer camp in her hometown. Lafay added that she is “excited but also a little nervous.”
“I will miss being so close to my friends from different states and seeing them every day,” LaFay said. “It’s nice that they’re close enough to see every day while at Bona’s.”
“When I’m not working, I’m planning on going to four concerts, including Ed Sheeran with Khalid in Pittsburgh, Morgan Wallen in Pittsburgh, Luke Bryan in Darien Lake and The Doobie Brothers at CMAC in Rochester,” LaFay said.
“I have met such a great group of people that I’m blessed enough to call my friends,” Anthony Belardinelli, a junior business management major, said.
He used to live in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, but his family recently moved to Florida.
“living so far away is tough, but I will be very excited to see everyone in the fall,” Belardinelli said. “My plan is to work 40- plus hours a week, maintain a consistent workout schedule, complete my remote internship and to complete my registered summer class.”
While he has a busy schedule coming up, his favorite way to unwind is to enjoy a nice cool night by the fire with some music and my dogs chilling with me.
“Every summer I always look forward to being home and enjoying being around my family,” Kennedy Haberl, a junior sports management major, said. “But, St. Bonaventure has grown as a second home and I always miss leaving my friends every summer, spending time with teammates, and competing on the softball field.”
Since Haberl is a member of the softball team, she will use the time off in the summer to be preparing for her last season for softball for the 2023-2024 season. Because of this, her free time will be mostly around the softball field whether that is coaching or practicing.
“Some of my other plans include catching up with my family and friends at home,” Haberl said.
In addition to softball, she also received an internship through First Tee WNY where she says she will be learning sports management, marketing and career skills through the game of golf.
Despite missing the campus until the fall, students have a lot of fun planned for the upcoming summer.
