The St. Bonaventure women’s soccer team will continue its Atlantic 10 Conference schedule on Sunday when they take on the Richmond Spiders at President’s Field in Richmond, Virginia.

The Bonnies (3-3-5, 2-1-1 A-10) face a Spiders (2-7-3, 0-4 A-10) lineup featuring top-scorer Molly Wierman. She is ranked sixth in the A-10 in shots on goal tBohis season. However, St. Bonaventure head coach Donny George expressed confidence in his defense.

“I can confidently say that we have two of the best center backs in the conference and one of the best goalkeepers in the conference,” said George. “So between those guys, I think that we’ll be able to handle and do a job on her for sure.”

Bonaventure forward Ami Komori is coming off her first career hat trick against Fordham, earning her A-10 co-Offensive Player of the Week. Komori comes into Sunday’s game leading the conference in goals scored.

Richmond head coach Adam Denton said one of his team’s goals is to limit Komori’s potential impact on Sunday’s game.

“What you want to do with creative players is limit the time that they get the ball,” said Denton. “And when they do get the ball, you’d better defend well.”

Bonaventure comes into Sunday’s match after suffering a 2-0 loss to Duquesne, their first in A-10 play. Coach George said getting back on track is “ just a matter of doing what we’ve been doing all year, consistently and doing it well.”

Bonaventure, which ranked last in the A-10 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, sits sixth in the A-10. Richmond has yet to record a point in A-10 play. Only six teams qualify for the conference’s postseason, which starts Oct. 27.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
