Bonnies men’s soccer falls to UMass

The St. Bonaventure men’s soccer team (4-5-2 overall, 1-3 A-10) lossed to the University of Massachusetts (5-4-3 overall, 2-2 A-10) Wednesday afternoon, 5-2. The Bonnies are in 11th place and the Minutemen 8th for the Atlantic 10 standings.

The game started with the Bonnies scoring in the 11th minute with a goal by midfielder Kenzo Brito with an assist by forward Rafael Pereia. The Minutemen scored next in the 31st minute with a goal by midfielder Nick Zielonka, tying up the score at halftime.

The second half started with forward Alec Hughes scoring a goal in the 62nd minute from a penalty kick.  The Minutemen got another penalty kick in the 69th minute. This time by Zielonka.

In the 79th minute, Hughes scored a goal in the lower left corner with an assist by defender Shane Velez, making the score 4-1. The Minutemen scored once again in the 88th minute with a goal in the lower right corner by midfielder Mike Willis with an assist by midfielder Aaron O’Malley.

In the 88th minute, the Bonnies scored a goal. Bonnies defender Luc Finelli scored a goal in the lower right corner with an assist by forward Daniel Helle making the score 5-2.

Next, the Bonnies travel to Washington D.C. to take on the George Washington Revolutionaries at GW soccer field on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Minutemen travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to take on the Saint Joseph Hawks at Sean Sweeney Field Saturday at 7 p.m.
