Calling all ‘swifties’ — there’s a new era.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards this past Sunday, Taylor Swift announced her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” to be released on April 19. This shocked her fanbase since hints at the re-release of her “Reputation” album have been teased for months.
I’m one of the many “swifties” — Taylor Swift fans — who were shocked by the new album.
Since the release of “Reputation” in 2017, I’ve been in my “Reputation” era. I enjoy how empowering the songs make me feel when I’m at my lowest, despite the perceptions of the album. “Reputation” is perceived as a slam to Taylor Swift’s enemies — also known as everyone who doubted her or put her down throughout her career.
When Taylor started to re-release her albums, I began to anticipate the release “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” With the assumption that she’s not going to re-release her self-titled record, “Reputation” should be the next and final re-release.
Taylor Swift’s team has recently been teasing that “Reputation TV” will drop soon. As the 2024 Grammy Awards approached, fans anticipated the announcement for the final re-release.
“The Tortured Poets Department” was announced during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for “Album of the Year.”
Based on the title, I’m assuming the album will resemble previous Taylor Swift albums like “Folklore” and “Evermore.” If that is true, I will be excited — “Folklore” is one of my favorite albums.
I enjoy “Folklore” because of the subject of the tracks. The tracks relate to heartbreak at a teenage age — something that I’m able to relate to.
Even though Swifties are shocked about the announcement of “The Tortured Poets Department,” they aren’t showing any hate towards it. Yes, they’re disappointed about “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” but they are happy for Taylor Swift to expand her discography further.
Swifties have supported the new album on social media by sharing the cover or announcement post on their feed.
Despite having to wait to hear “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” I anticipate that “The Tortured Poets Department” will be just as iconic as Taylor Swift’s other albums.
