Track attends first outdoor event of season

The St. Bonaventure men’s and women’s track teams traveled to Virginia for the Colonial Relays, the first outdoor event of the season.

The women’s team began the day in the 5000-meter race, with sophomore Jenna Gregory placing 22nd, beating her personal record with a time of 18:14:56, and sophomore Claire Cuneo placing 33rd. They continued the day with the unseeded 5,000-meter race. Freshman Gabriella Randazzo placed fifth and freshman Jayne Gavin placed 10th.

Next up for the women was the 800-meters. Sophomore Adria Magnusson and sophomore Faith Caldwell competed, with Magnusson placing 18th and Caldwell finishing five seconds later at 31st.

Sophomore Meghan Litteer and freshman Riley Gomolka headlined the 100-meters. Litteer broke her own school record by running a 13:52. Litteer placed 45th, and Gomolka placed 51st. In the 200-meters, Litteer placed 50th and Gomolka again ran and placed 54th. 

The 100-meters was followed up by the 400-meters where the Bonnies’ had three racers. Sophomore Mary Trost placed 46th, beating her personal record at 1:05.21. Junior Camryn Cwiklinski came in after Trost placing 48th. Sophomore Riley France came in 2.34 seconds after Cwiklinski. In the 3,000 steeplechase, sophomore Mia Winters placed 11th with sophomore Molly Gipson finishing just behind her at 13th.

The 1,500 meters was the last race of the day where freshman Meghan Lex placed 22nd, freshman Chloe Fisher placed 29th, Junior Olivia Ippolito placed 32nd, closely followed by freshman Katelyn Wilkes, who crossed 33rd and sophomore Georgia Hanley, who ended at 34th.

The men’s team started with five Bonnies taking part in the 5,000-meters. Sophomore Aiden Scattergood reached the podium, placing third. Sophomore Casey Malloy placed 17th, sophomore Ethan Luce placed 19th, and junior Conor Quinn crossed the line 21st.

Freshman Joshua Lopez and senior Kieran Ryan ran the 800-meters placing 25th and 29th.

In the 400-meters, freshman Riley Dillon placed 25th and broke the school record. The record was previously held by sophomore Christian Figueroa. Figueroa placed 34th and freshman Aidan Hurley placed 38th.

In the 1500-meters, senior Zane Courtwright beat his personal record and placed 15th. Sophomore Alex Ryan and sophomore Aiden Holt also raced, placing 35th and 42nd respectively. 

Freshman William McCarthy, senior Henry Trost, and junior Owen Noecker headlined the 3,000-meters steeplechaser. McCarthy finished seventh. Trost finished 15th and beat his personal record. Noecker finished 19th.

Junior Colin McCarthy, headlined the 10,000-meters, placing 28th overall at 33:29.06.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday, April 14, at the Brockport Outdoor Invitational in Brockport.
