Goodbye.

A word that is seen as an ending to some.

To me it’s only the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Just as one door closes another one opens and as my time here at Bonaventure comes to a close, I owe a lot of people here at the BV gratitude.

First, to all of the people that came before this semester’s editorial staff and to all I have had the chance to meet these past four years, thank you for accepting a lost kid trying to find his way during a crazy and wild freshman year and allowing him to grow under your guidance. Your patience and understanding can’t be matched.

To Nathan Soloman, thank you for bringing me up and allowing me to take over your section and giving me a home in the BV. Without it I wouldn’t be where I am in my position today.

To Jonny Walker, our trips to the Atlantic 10 basketball tournament will forever be a core memory for me. I’ve learned a lot under your time editing that I will forever be grateful for. I also appreciate you taking a chance on me to take over after you left. I hope I was able to somewhat do my time justice compared to your reign.

Now to the team I got to see for 10 weeks.

I’ll start where I ironically started four years ago, features.

David Scibilia, thank you for taking a role that you didn’t necessarily want but made the most of it. I don’t know what I would’ve done if you didn’t. I appreciate you listening to Call Me Maybe on repeat for hours on end to make sure your section was completed. Also having your humor in the room helped to create a comfortable familial atmosphere.

Now to where I moved next, opinions.

Isabel Marzullo, your time under me hasn’t been a long one but I appreciate you helping out and being there for opinions. I hope that you’ve enjoyed it and that you continue to be the successful writer that you are.

Joesph DeBell, where would we be without your music takes and D.J. skills. As much as the Mets do us wrong you still keep a smile on your face and the vibes high. Keep being that bright light on a cloudy day and keep the jams going for the next year. I know everyone needs that motivation to get through those especially long BV Wednesday’s.

Now to my beloved sports section.

Kyle Maier, your impact was felt as soon as you were called into action in the middle of the semester. Your willingness to learn and eagerness to attack things head on will never cease to amaze me. You came into the room and fit right in like a glove and I appreciate you coming into a new space and embracing it.
Allie Elkins, I know I threw you into the fire week one, but you picked up quickly. I appreciate you for your patience with me in teaching you how we operate. I also appreciate how we bonded on the trip to the A-10 Tournament. It was an unforgettable trip. I hope you keep breaking stories like you did this semester and keep up the great work with the section.

And that leaves one section left, news.

Elizabeth Kamrowski, you’re one of the best writers I’ve seen as a freshman. Not only that your eagerness to learn everything and anything blows me away. You are one of the brightest people in that room and I appreciate our girl talk conversations. Even though most of my jokes sucked you at least laughed. Nothing tops the energy that you brought even when it was late, and things weren’t going your way. We need more people like that in today’s world.
Morgan Kilger, although you didn’t even need to be in this club for your major, I respected it a whole lot for your passion for writing. It has showed in your work and you’ve learned really fast. Your resiliency after situations arise shows how tough of a person you truly are. Girl talk also wouldn’t be the same without your energy and it gives a much needed break from stress.

Now to my right-hand man.

Andrew Hale, we’ve been in it together since I made you my assignment editor for sports. Watching you come a long way from a writing perspective while also watching your personality grow makes me feel like a proud father. You’re only going to improve from here and I can’t wait to see how your reign goes. There’s no other person I would rather leave the BV with.

As I say goodbye for one last time, I wish I could fit all I want to say in this piece, but it would take the whole newspaper and then some. But you all will get it because you deserve it and I can’t say thank you enough for you all allowing a kid from Binghamton, New York to be your Editor-In-Chief.

For one final time, goodbye Bona’s and goodbye Bona Venture.
