The St. Bonaventure men’s tennis team went one for 11 this weekend in the Big 3 Battle, hosted by the University of Buffalo.

Niagara University and UB both outmatched the Bonnies in the singles competition, with freshman Alex Kim being the only Bonnie to win a set. Buffalo Bull sophomore Michael Malkin won the match in a thrilling third set that went into a tiebreak, with the final score being 11-9.

Bonaventure’s Undefeated freshman, Chase Cahill-Welsh, did not play in the two-day invitational. Cahill-Welsh has won every game he has played in this season, going 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.

In the doubles competition, the Bonnies took one of six matches they played, with sophomore Arjun Pindiprolu and freshman Luke Ollivierre defeating Purple Eagles’ senior Rohan Srivastava and sophomore Jose Maria Garcia, 6-4. The duo now stands 2-4 in doubles matches together.

Bonaventure plays in two more invitationals, one at Army, and the other at an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional competition, before going into the A-10 individual tournament on Oct. 25.
