The St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team traveled to Bowling Green, Ohio to play the Falcons and they took an defeat by a score of 92-41.
The starting line-up consisted of fifth-year students Dani Haskell, Isabella Middleton and Payton Fields as well as freshmen Mackenzie Pettinelli and Zoe Shaw.
Dani Haskell opened the scoring for the Bonnies with a left-handed layup, but Bowling Green answered with an 8-0 run after the basket.
The Falcons, in the second quarter, went on a 6-0 run before Haskell scored a layup to bridge the deficit to 39-23.
In the third quarter, freshmen forward Lauren Gerken made a 3-pointer sparking a 20-point run to put the Falcons ahead 69-30.
Bowling Green opened the fourth quarter with a 15-point run to bring their lead to 87-32. The Bonnies ended the game on a five-point run with baskets from junior guard Aurore Eyango and freshman guard Hannah Richardson, who led the team with nine points off the bench.
Payton Fields struggled from the field as she went 0-8 and she also went 0-4 from beyond the arc. Shaw also struggled as she went 1-8 from the field.
The Bonnies were outrebounded 42-26 and they were also outshot 47% to 14% from beyond the arc.
Bonaventure head coach Jim Crowley used an 11-player rotation for the first time this season. This was due to three Bonnies committing four fouls each. One of those players, Isabellah Middleton, played in a season-low 12 minutes against the Falcons.
The Bonnies head to Buffalo to take on Little Three rival Canisius University on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. WBSU FM 88.3 “The Buzz” will have radio coverage of the matchup against the Golden Griffs.
