The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team plays its second consecutive home game Wednesday night, hosting Division II Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
The Bonnies (4-0, 0-0 A-10) are coming off their biggest win of the season as they defeated Le Moyne College 71-52 Saturday afternoon. Mansfield (1-3, 0-0 PSAC) enters Wednesday night’s matchup coming off its first win of the season as the Mountaineers defeated D’Youville University 68-66 Saturday.
Wednesday will be the first regular season matchup between Bonaventure and Mansfield since 1947. The two programs have played seven times in exhibition games, with Bonaventure winning the last matchup 108-48 in 2015. The Bonnies lead the all-time regular-season series 5-1.
In four games, Bonaventure has averaged 76 points per game, shooting 46% from the field and 30% from 3-point range. On the defensive end, the Bonnies have held their opponents to an average of 63 points per game, 40% from the field and 34% from three.
The Mountaineers are led by graduate guard LJ Stansbury, who has finished all four games in double figures. Stansbury leads Mansfield in points, shooting 47% from the field, and assists, with 15 on the season. Stansbury is also tied for the team lead in rebounds and steals with 15 and six, respectively.
Bonaventure graduate center Noel Brown enters Wednesday having scored in double-figures in three consecutive games. Brown has shot 70% from the field this season while securing 18 rebounds.
Junior guard Dasonte Bowen has finished in double-figures scoring in his first four games as a Bonnie. Bowen has shot 43% from the field and leads the team in assists with 14.
